Enhanced Financial Reporting
L.A.W.S./Pro now provides lawyers the ability
to produce more robust general ledger financial statements by providing additional print and selection
options.
Financial statements are generated by selecting Accounting - G/L Reports - Statements from the menu bars.
Print Format: Determines how the data is accumulated and displayed on the statement.
The options include:
Summary: The values associated with general ledger accounts are summarized by the general ledgers major account number.
the account number is not printed on the statement. For example: Assume you have a major account number for "Insurance" with
three sub accounts associated with that number. The summary format will summarize all three accounts into a single
line item and utilize the first accounts description line as a line description.
Detail: The values associated with each general ledger account is printed on the statement. The account number is automatically
appended to the account name allowing easy cross-referencing to other financial reports.
For example: Assume you have a major account number for "Insurance" with
three sub accounts associated with that number. The detail format will list all three accounts along with the assigned account numbers.
Specific Attorney: Allows the selection of financial information for a specific attorney only. If an attorney
is referenced, only the values associated with general ledger accounts specifically assigned to that attorney will be included within the statements.
If the attorney is blank, values associated with all general ledger accounts will be included.
If the firm utilizes the attorney designation within general ledger account numbers, then the "Specific Attorney" option
allows the generation of financial statements specific to the designated attorney.
