Multiple Scratch Pads
The L.A.W.S./Pro Scratch Pad function allows the firm
to identify additional, unique, fields of information, outside the normal scope of
file setup, that may then be associated with individual Clients or Matters.
For Example: The firm may service divorce matters. The firm
may want to record pertinent information about each party related to the divorce such as the spouse and one or more
children. To do so a scratch pad would be developed requesting information such as "Name", "Birth Date", "Sex", "Special Needs".
etc., pertaining to each child.
Prior to this modification, only a single instance of a specific scratch pad could be associated with a
specific matter. In the above example, only a single party could be associated to a matter through a
scratch pad.
This modification allows multiple instances of a common scratch pad to be associated with any given matter.
Therefore, in the above example, the same scratch pad could be used as many times as needed to identify
all parties associated with the matter.
Please review "Scratch Pad" processing through the L.A.W.S./Pro
Help Text. Choose "Help" from the menu bar then
"Quick Start/Detailed Help". Review the Scratch Pad functionality
within the "Client" and "Matter" Setup, and also the Scratch Pad within "Supplemental Setup".
