L.A.W.S. Corporation was founded in 1981 as a technology consulting company for legal professionals and was headquartered in Rosscommon, Michigan North of Detroit. Recognizing a need for better time tracking and accounting software, the company created it's first time and accounting package which was designed on an IBM System/34 computer system in 1982. As time passed the program was expanded upon, enhanced and changed to keep up with newer technologies. It was moved to other platforms including IBM System/36 and Wang/VS. By 1994 the L.A.W.S. program was available on a Microsoft Access Windows based system.

In 2000, JurisDictionUSA, Inc. (JDUSA) based out of Phoenix, Arizona, embarked upon developing a complete web-based time and accounting system for legal professionals. During their initial feasibility research they discovered the L.A.W.S. Product and found it to have all of the features required for their web-based product. JDUSA entered into an agreement with L.A.W.S. Corporation to license the L.A.W.S. Product as a model and to use L.A.W.S. employees as a consultants during the development.

JDUSA then proceeded to embark upon writing a completely new, web-based product built upon the proven features found in L.A.W.S. In 2001 JDUSA was forced to close its doors due to circumstances beyond their control. Developers from JDUSA joined L.A.W.S. Corporation and the company was renamed to DeskTop Business Solutions, LLC (DTBS).

Since that time DTBS has continued to release revisions to the LAWS/Pro time and billing software including the latest full rewrite dubbed “Version 5.0”. These revisions have been done to enhance the overall programs features and to keep up with changing technologies. A lot has changed over the last several years. The Internet has now become a crucial part of most businesses. It has grown to an almost inconceivable size and can deliver almost anything you can think to request. Over the last few years DTBS has continued to prove the reliability and operation of our web-based ASP product Our customers enjoy hassle free upgrades, no dependencies on computer hardware, complete data security and backup peace of mind. DTBS was the first to market with a web-based full function legal time, billing and accounting package and we still remain the leader in that market. Now with the latest version of our product the LAWS/Pro product has been expanded to support any professional who performs hourly billing.

Our LAWS/Pro legal billing software showcases the latest in web technologies including AJAX and Web 3.0. It also contains many new technologies developed by DTBS, such as our patented VerFast technology, which enhance the overall user experience. All of these combine to make the LAWS/Pro application easier than ever to use. We have also packed it full of fully integrated features to help you manage and grow your business.
